The area of Costa del Sol is famous for its appealing beaches. The beaches in the western part of it are popular for its fine sand and tourist resorts whereas the more stony sand and the numerous bays are typical for the eastern part. There you can find some typical Spanish towns and beaches without any buildings.

The Playa of La Malagueta, the city beach of Málaga, comes with many beach bars over its longht of 1.2 km. The walking distance between the centre and the beach is only a couple of minutes. Furthermore it is well connected with public transport.
To the east of La Malagueta follow the beaches of the former fishing villages El Palo and Pedregalejo. These beaches are more quiet than it is for example La Malagueta and they have a very special flair created by the plenty of traditional seafood restaurants and the fishermen that barbecue freshly caught fish at the beach. A holiday rental at the beach can be a nice way to enjoy this scenery!
At a distance of 50 km in the east of Málaga the town of Nerja is located which is famous for its nice beaches. The most populare one is the beach of Burriana that comes with rough and light sand.
Also in the east of the Costa del Sol are the beaches of Almuñécar and La Herradura. The beach of La Herradura has some bays that makes it possible to do water sports in it such as diving or sailboarding. The beaches of Almuñécar stand out because of their interesting changing of fine sand and rough stones.
